TheOtherSide1TAIAT TAIAT Dansa was founded in 1999 in Valencia, Spain. Since its inception, TAIAT Dansa has presented eight pieces which have been performed in several exhibition centres and festivals in Spain such as the Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona, Cuarta Pared in Madrid, Casa Encendida in Madrid, Festival Internacional Masdanza in Canary Islands, Dansa Valencia in Valencia, and Festival Alter-Arte in Murcia.

The company has also developed workshops in centres such as IVAM (Valencia, Spain), Muvim (Valencia, Spain), Artium (Vitoria, Spain) and the Patio Herreriano (Valladolid, Spain). TAIAT Dansa’s performances have been shown at the Mira Festival (Toulousse, France), Centre Chorégraphique (Montpellier, France) Dans Centrum Jette (Brussels, Belgium) and most recently, and at Judson Church (New York).

The presentation of dance work in audiovisual format is a process TAIAT Dansa have been developing since 2006, when they first became aware of the possibilities that media offers. Their video-dance works have been screened in Spain, Portugal, Germany, France and Italy. Since 2005, they have incorporated the martial art Kung Fu into their work. The result of this research is “The Other Side,” an on-stage meeting place between both arts.

TAIAT Dansa’s most memorable premieres have been Nada (2003) at Teatre Micalet, Valencia; Amor Fou (2004) at Centro Cultural, Almussafes, Valencia; La Odisea de un Actor Secundario (2004) at Cìrculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid; Deriva (2005) at Dansa Valencia Festival, and Memoria Azul (2006) at the Dansa Valencia Festival.

TAIAT Dansa’s mission is to create their own movement vocabulary. Their research is always combining classical dance with the limits of movement. It is their goal to bring innovation to new elements and other disciplines of art – literature, cinema, poetry, visual arts…
