Originally from New Orleans, LA, Brynne Billingsley began her professional dance training at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, and in 2002 received her BFA in Dance Choreography and Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi. Upon graduation, she produced and directed a multi-art concert of dance, music, film, and art titled A Night Without Words. A company member of Chris Elam/Misnomer Dance Theater since 2004, Brynne has performed in four NYC seasons, including Throw People in 2006, which was named one of the top ten dance performances in the New York Times. With Misnomer, Brynne has toured throughout the U.S. and Europe, and has done several teaching and choreography residencies including The Yard at Martha’s Vineyard and Summer Stages in Concord, MA. Brynne is also a company member of Jody Oberfelder Dance Projects, whose work was awarded Best Choreography in this year's NYC Fringe Festival. In 2007, Brynne had the privilege of working with Bjork as her dancer and body double in her music video, Wanderlust, directed by Encyclopedia Pictura. Brynne has shown her own choreography in several NYC venues including The Chashama Gallery in Times Square, The NYU Skirball Center, and in the Dumbo Dance Festival. Brynne also cherishes teaching and was honored to return to her hometown as a guest artist with the New Orleans Ballet Association in 2008 and at her alma mater, the University of Southern Mississippi in 2009. Additionally, Brynne currently teaches Pilates and pratices Thai Yoga Bodywork in New York City.
